First, because it's driving me crazy, is the correct measurement of this device. The Amazon information page says 6.3 x 2.6 x 4.2 inches. So when the drive arrived and I pulled it out, I was a little suspect that I had received the wrong item. The measurements of the item I received is 4 7/8" tall. An inch shorter than advertised. The width is 3". An inch less wide. And it is only a 1/4" thick. So it's a little larger than my iPod classic, but weighs the same. The reason I spend so much time on the issue of size is that this drive is tiny. It easily fits in my shirt pocket. It easily fits beside my notebook computer in its case. I don't have to buy a different case and then worry about transporting yet another piece of technology around. It doesn't require its own power source; you just hook it up and your computer supplies all that is needed. I've actually had 3 Seagate GoFlex portable hard drives of different types - the GoFlex Pro Ultra Portable hard drive (500gb), the GoFlex Ultra Portable hard drive (1TB) and now the GoFlex Slim (320gb). All 3 come with the same type of software but I have used them all differently. I have tried both the backup programs that come on the hard drives, but with my 500gb and 1TB I chose to just manually copy my files over since I was mostly using them for extra space, not backup. This can be a little ineffective since manually copying files over it does not automatically update and you might miss some files if you are doing a backup or moving files to a new computer, but I am very set in my ways and this is how I've always backed up files. The software irritates me, I've had other external backup drives with better, less intrusive software. The software expects to be running all the time, it's in your face, and clearly its main purpose is to get you to use other Memeo products. Peeves: - During installation you have to opt out of installation of test versions of other Memeo products (rather than opt-in) - Awful "dashboard" layer on top of software that gets in the way of using the backup software and promotes other products. Sometimes screens for the backup software would pop up _under_ the dashboard window. - Backup software is clunky, no status bar or time estimate during backups, the screen just shows the file being copied moment, but no idea how many files remaining or how long backups will take. - The software expects to be running all the time, if you quit the software you get a message: "Your files will no longer...
